Christmas Parties & Hire

Built on the former site of a 1920s hotel, we’ll be honouring the venue’s roots by tastefully dressing it with an Art Deco nod this Christmas.

The multi-faceted nature of Upstairs provides the ideal set-up for 200 people to eat, drink, and party!

We have a raised stage area that is great for smaller acoustic and live sets to sit alongside our top-notch sound system and DJ equipment. We include our ping pong and fuse ball table as part of your hire, and tokens for our onsite Photo Booth are discounted when bought in bulk ahead of time.

Upstairs leads directly out onto the terrace area, which will be covered in the event of rain and heated (subject to suitable weather conditions) with lit fires – perfect to toast sticks of marshmallows over to compliment your warm cocktail.

Downstairs is kitted out with a large, raised stage and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment – perfect for bands, DJs and dancing – making it an ideal addition to hire of Upstairs for a well-rounded party.

Both floors are furnished with a large bar/large bars featuring an eclectic menu of local and international craft beers, wines and warm winter cocktails.

We offer great per-head package options which will help you to get your party organised in one, easy go.

As an extra bonus, we have enough accommodation for up to 40 people to stay the night with us located directly above the venue – email andy@mothershipgroup.com for details.

About Patterns

Patterns is a multi-purpose event space located opposite the iconic Brighton pier on the seafront.

Built on the former site of a 1920’s hotel, the recent refurbishment of Upstairs pays homage to its Art Deco roots with original stained-glass windows and exposed brickwork, complemented by warm cedar paneling and modern dashes of colour. From the Ohm sound system to the diamond-polished shell floor, everything has been carefully thought out and custom-designed to create a unique, spacious venue full of character and light.

On its doorstep is our sea-facing terrace, decorated this summer with a tasteful nod to poolside Miami. It’s the perfect sun-soaked spot from which to observe Brighton’s bustling seafront – accompanied by cold drinks, a sizzling BBQ and live acoustic sets.

Downstairs is a world-class live performance space renowned for its programme of internationally acclaimed bands and DJs and is kitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and lighting rig to match.

Both floors are furnished with bars featuring an eclectic menu of local and international craft beers, wines and cocktails. We work alongside Brighton’s favourite Hell’s Kitchen and Secret Service Events to provide a fresh, modern food menu for our private functions – but external catering is often permitted.
