SEDI Rwanda: An Evening of Live Jazz & Soul

Event details

Wed 21 Mar
7PM - 10PM

Live: Sussex Big Band, Jessie Daniach Trio and Samuel J Lawrence

On the 21st of March SEDI Rwanda will be hosting its very first LIVE JAZZ & SOUL fundraiser at Patterns!

SEDI Rwanda is a small grassroots charity in Rwanda that works with three marginalised communities on the outskirts of Kigali. These are some of the poorest people in Rwanda’s society and they are extremely reliant on the work that SEDI does through donations provided to them from fundraisers such as these. Those of you who attended our last fundraiser will know that we were able to raise enough money to fund for a new water pipe in Cyaruzinge village and to build the infrastructure for a mushroom farming house in Masoro village.

This time we’re hoping to raise even more money to be able to cover the tuition fees for 84 children from Cyaruzinge and Mushimba village. Their previous financial support has now run out and therefore students are being forced to drop out of school. As enrolment numbers are too low there isn’t enough income to pay the teachers and the school will be forced to shut down.

It costs £18 to cover the costs for an entire year of education for a single child, including; uniform, shoes, books and pens and teacher salary costs. So we hope that we can get enough support to raise enough money to send all of the lovely children of Cyaruzinge and Mushimba to school.
